Five days into March and my oh my where is this year going?!? With every second, every minute, and every hour that passes on we are closer and closer to the movies that we have been waiting for! But… before we get to the expectations for the upcoming March Madness of movies, let’s take a look back at what we were treated to this February.

February started off with a couple of laughs and just a touch of romance. Comedy coming from the Coen Brothers’ Hail, Caesar!, which had an incredible ensemble cast of Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Jo, Jonah Hill, and others. It was a cast that screamed success and entertainment but quite frankly fell short in monetary success. Hail, Caesar! was accompanied by The Choice (Benjamin Walker, Teresa Palmer) and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Lily James, Sam Riley). Both movies that were generic and unappealing but did a good job at nibbling away at Hail, Caesar’s! audience.

Weekend two held promise, so much promise!!! And did it pay off!! Deadpool, the merc with the mouth came in on Valentine’s weekend and stole the show! Was the movie perfect? No. Was it predictable in several moments? Yes. Was I sufficiently entertained? Heck yeah!! But more on that here: YouTube link here! Let’s be honest, How to be Single and Zoolander 2 stood no chance when up against Deadpool. Not because Deadpool was a sure thing but rather because people would rather see Ryan Reynolds be Ryan Reynolds in a red suit than to see that girl from Pitch Perfect (Rebel Wilson) and the girl from Fifty Shades of Grey (Dakota Johnson) serve up a lukewarm comedy or Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson serve up another sporadic giggles movie.

Following Valentine’s Weekend there was Race and Risen. Two very different movies that what we had seen so far in 2016. Race was a biopic (I love biopics) that told the story of Olympic Medalist Jesse Owens and all of the obstacles he faced in the 1936 Olympics against the Aryan supremacy ideals. And there was Risen, with a different perspective of the Jesus Christ story, this movie managed to garner the interest of many more than just the Christian community. I personally enjoyed both of these movies and feel as though it was a great weekend with two great films.

February ended on a very interesting note. The movie that I thought would be mediocre and the movie that I thought would be bad were flipped around. Gods of Egypt (Brenton Thwaites, Gerard Butler) turned out to be a CGI infested and plot-less film while Eddie the Eagle (Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman) was a very decent film that in my opinion, showed a different side to Taron Edgerton’s range.

If you are a very busy person and/or live under a rock and did not get a chance to watch any of these movies, I highly recommend that you get up, take a shower, put on some clothes, and drive to a theater near you and watch Deadpool. That is the best that February had to offer us. But enough about the past, here is what March has in store for us:

MARCH MOVIE PREVIEW!!

What do I expect to be great?

Don’t quote me on this but I have extremely high hopes for 10 Cloverfield Lane and I do think that it is going to be great. Why? There is just so much mystery to this project. The trailer literally dropped out of nowhere and no one even knew there was a sequel to a movie that came out years ago!!

What do I expect to be decent?

March will be a month full of decent movies. Decent because many of the following movies have set audiences that will go watch the movie and it will make its money from there. Whatever extra people they can interest after that will be a plus. This list begins with London Has Fallen, a sequel-not-so-sequel to Olympus Has Fallen. All action junkies like me will go watch this movie. Then comes the next installment of the Divergent Series: Allegiant which for sure will be watched by those that are fans of the book series and/or have seen the first two movies. Last but not least there is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. *enter panic here: Gasp! Batman v Superman?! A decent movie?! Yes, for a further explanation visit our full trailer reaction here: YouTube link. I want to believe that it will be great; I want to be proved wrong and have to do an apology video. I just don’t think I will have to. Too much is trying to be done in just the second movie of the DCCU and I just don’t think it will work out as great as many think. But it is Batman fighting Superman for at least the first hour of the movie so it can’t be too bad.

What do I expect to be horrible?

The Brothers Grimsby. Horrible might be an exaggeration but from the big movies coming out March 2k16, this is the one that I think will be forgotten the quickest. The trailers show some funny stuff that I believe will be the only funny parts. And there’s also rumors of controversy swimming around this film that just might up it to decent or throw it down into Fantastic Four territory.

Anyways, that is all for this Review and Preview. Agree or Disagree? What was your favorite movie of February 2016 and do you think I am wrong on this month’s movies? Let your voice be heard (read) and comment here.
